Chinchilla Facts

  • Chinchilla fur is considered to be the softest fur in the world and originate from the Andes Mountains in South America!

  • Chinchillas have more than 90 hairs per single follicle (humans grow one hair from each follicle). Because of their thick fur coat, they like cold temperatures.

  • Excellent jumpers and can jump 5 feet in the air!

  • Martha Stewart has 15 pet chinchillas

  • Chinchilla fur is so dense that parasites such as fleas can't live on them (they would suffocate!).

  • Chinchillas are incredibly cute!
