FAQs ON DC EVENTS

We primarily serve NW Washington DC because we are based in Rockville MD and do not travel more than 30 minutes. We may not have availability for events in DC during our busiest months.

Due to Washington DC code § 8-1808(j), we only bring small animals to events in Washington DC, up to and including: bunnies, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, pigeons, tortoises, bearded dragons, hedgehogs, and chinchillas. We are unable to bring piglets into DC.

As the vendor, Squeals on Wheels will submit a “Special Event Application” and a “Event Vendor Application” to DC Health for a permit to bring animals into DC. These applications require a certificate of Insurance for the event location and a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. We will provide these documents to DC Health. Due to the additional costs of a home vet visit and the fee for the “Special Event Application,” there is a $175 fee for all events in Washington DC.
Due to the additional administrative work and coordination with the DC government, all DC events must be booked at least 6 weeks in advance and we may not have availability for events in DC during our busiest months.

Due to the necessary expenses listed above, the cost of doing an event in DC is the hourly package rate + mileage + $175 fee for veterinary costs and DC Health permit applications. Any events cancelled after booking will be charged the fee of $175 because we beginning the process of applying for permits/Certificate of Veterinary Inspection immediately. Bunnies and Buddies - birthdays and small gatherings

This package includes:
5+ species from this list - multiple bunnies and guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, tortoise, hedgehog, chinchilla, bearded dragon, or exotic fluffy chicken! Selection is based on temperature/season.

Something for everyone!! With variety of sweet, loving and unique mini-animals arriving in adorable baskets. Combining a variety of species, this is a unique and unforgettable experience. Perfect for adding that WOW-factor to any indoor or outdoor event! 15x15ft space minimum.
This package includes:
3+ bunnies, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, PLUS exciting and exotic seasonal friends (dependent on weather and age range)! We will provide educational signs on each of our animals for guests to read while they explore.
2 - 3 Squeals on Wheels staff members, depending on duration of event!
Travel fee for all Squeals on Wheels events/parties is $2 per mile round trip. All DC event have a $175 fee added to hourly rate and mileage. This package has a 1.5 hour minimum on weekends.

Fur, feathers, and scales - schools and daycares
Weekdays Only - For Schools and Daycares Only
Why do animals have fur, feathers, or scales? We'll tell you about it during this fun and educational program. Children learn about the importance of animals coverings and differences between mammals, birds, and reptiles!
This package includes:
6+ species of furry, feathered and scaly critters. Options include: chinchillas, rabbits, ducks, chickens, pigeons, bearded dragons, hedgehogs and tortoises (our choice is based on age of attendees and weather conditions). This program may be set-up inside or outside. We need a 10x10 ft area for animals with additional space for kids to sit and learn!

For all levels of care. Let us provide a special program for your residents/workers! Attendees sit in your facility’s comfortable chairs or their personal wheelchairs. Depending on level and comfort, patients have the option to either pet animals held by helpers or hold animals on their laps.
This Package Includes:
12+ small animals (minimum 5 species) for residents to hold and pet. Ask about our multiple-event discounts! This event is perfect indoors or outdoors!
